Yeah, so that PDA that closed up on its own, it has re-opened.
Tomorrow morning Azure will be transported to The Big Hospital Up the Hill where she will have surgery to close it. She will recover there and then be moved back to the original hospital. This could possibly all take place in one day, or depending on the timing of the surgery, might be a couple days. We just don't know yet.
This was completely unexpected but she is bigger and stronger now than she was before so I feel a bit more comfortable about it now.
I am still scared (who wouldn't be), but I think it will be Ok. This should help her breathing, they are hoping to wean her off the vent in the next week or so.
Ugh.

I'm so sorry to hear that Azure has to have the surgery after all. If it helps any, PDA surgery is pretty safe and well-practiced throughout the country. I'll be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers as she goes through this.
Golly! Good luck sweetie!
Oh Blue, I'm sorry to hear that. You all continue to be in my thoughts.
Thinking of you and your sweet girl...
Sorry to hear about this stressful situation. Still, it sounds like she is really getting there. Thoughts and prayers to you and your little one.
This happened to my kiddo, too. I remember sitting by his isolette and crying when I heard the news despite the fact that I knew it was a common surgery for preemies. Take care of yourself on the day of the surgery...bring water and snacks and support people. We will be thinking of you!
Aw, crap. I'm so sorry to hear this. My baby just had surgery (at five and a half months of age, for a G-tube insertion) and I know what it's like and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Especially anyone whose baby is so little :-( I meant to email you or something after your post about "priming the gut" to tell you that if Azure has to go home with the NG tube I'll be happy to give you any assvice I can think of that might be of help. My little guy was on the NG for three months and I had to learn how to insert it, etc., and I KNOW, I KNOW, you're thinking "EW NO WAY!" but you'll manage if it comes to it. That's all down the road a bit, of course. But anyway, I'm rooting for little Azure, and keep us posted!
I'm so sorry, too.
I hope her surgery goes well and that you're able to breathe easy afterwards.
Thinking of you all.
Blue, I'm thinking about you and Azure. I agree, it's a better time for it now that she's grown and strengthened. I'm hoping for a completely smooth and routine procedure.
I only get to check in every few days, but you are in my thoughts every day. Hoping that yesterday's surgery went well and Azure is recovering nicely.
