March for Babies

Allllmossssst there...

Ok, so I stole the title from Star Wars. (Can you name the scene?)
So I went to the baby store yesterday and bought everything I thought I MUST have before she comes home. This included a crib, mattress, mattress pad (waterproof and antimicrobial non-allergic, etc.), bassinet sheets, a video/audio monitor, diapers, wipes, a seat protector for under the car seat, a rearview mirror to allow me to see her in the rear-facing car seat and a couple bulb syringes with which to suck the nasty mucus crap out of her throat so she can breathe, cuz that is important. *sigh*
T saw me bringing in the loot and we agreed upon a "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy in regards to how much money I spent. It really wasn't that bad considering the cost of cribs these days and mattresses that range from $50-$200. (Can you tell me why I would need a 30 year warranty on a baby mattress?) We are ready. *Gulp*
We completed our CPR training last night and are scheduled to Room In on Friday when we will learn how to use the take home monitor. Saturday midmorning we could be taking our daughter out of doors for the first time in her life. She has never felt the wind on her face or smelled the sweet...ah, who am I kidding, the oil and exhaust of the hospital parking lot. Anyway, you get the idea.

She is now 5 pounds 1 ounce and looks like a real baby. Incredible!

That is just incredibly wonderful. The transition can be nerve-wrecking, but it is worth all the nerves in the world to have her with you! Take care, and know that we will still be hear to listen, support you, and enjoy your wonderful, funny, insightful posts once she's home too!

WOOT! Fantastic news! I've been following for months and am thrilled for you!

Only someone like the Duggars would need a mattress warranty for 30 years. And really, what can a baby do to wear out a mattress?

Congratulations from the heart.

That is so great for you. I can't wait to hear the bloggy goodness once you get her home.

Hooray! Such big news. See if your nurses will slip you some goodies before you leave. Our nurses sent us home with bags and bags of diapers, wipes, neosure, and several of the booger suckers. Keeping everything crossed for the car seat test and hopefully home soon!

Holy cow! I'm sure it doesn't seem so to you, but she seems to have grown so quickly! I'm just thrilled for you!

Alllmmmossst there comes from the scene at the end where they are trying to kill the Death Star and Rebel #1 fails, leaving Luke to save the day! Booya! :)

SO glad to hear that you are getting all ready for her homecoming! What a special day it's going to be! Can't wait to read about how it's going!

Oh, and I'm sure you've already heard this a million times, but don't freak out if she won't sleep in her crib. Our daughter would not sleep ANYWHERE at first except right in my arms within licking distance of my boobs. It was heartwarming, yes, but considering the horrible carpal tunnel syndrome my pregnancy gave me and holding her for hours on end in my arms aggravated, it got really old by the end of the second week. :( Eventually we figured out that she WOULD sleep in her bouncer, then moved the bouncer to the crib, and then at ten weeks took the bouncer away. Kind of like potty training for the crib!

My point in this is just to encourage you to find what works for you. I have a friend whose son slept in his swing for the first three months of his life. I have another friend who let her son sleep in his carseat for months. Another had her son sleep in bed with her until 18 months. Everyone does their own thing and so will you!

Can't wait to read about Azure's homecoming! :) Good luck!

That is the most beautiful baby picture I can almost see that I have ever seen.

I look forward to sweet moments of at home babymoon stuff for you and your husband.

Happy, happy!

Oh, just LOOK at the little hands! She has the dimply, pudge-creased baby fingers...so sweet. I love baby hands. Thanks for letting us see that coy little glimpse of her--she does in fact look like a real baby. Wow!

That´s wonderful news, Blue. Great picture of the princess, as well.

We are rooming in next week and (hopefully) will be out next Saturday. Yay for the babies and the homecoming preparations!!!

Mot much time to write these days with the twins breastfeeding but just wanted to wish you the very best and keep telling us about your homecoming.

Way to go, Azure!

Great news!! Have you thought about a sling or other soft baby carrier for Azure? For newborns, a lot of people like pouches. They are easy to use. I like the hotslings, but there are lots of good ones. We'll be waiting eagerly for updates!

That's wonderful news, it's amazing what people charge for baby things isn't it.

Good luck with the room in
